Curious about cooking with flavors from around the world? Become a master of spices! What goes into Ethiopian berbere? Or Moroccan ras el hanout? Chinese five spice, garam masala, or herbs de Provence? And what about indigenous flavors from right here in the Great Plains like juniper, sumac, and sage? Discover these and more when food is medicine and the world is your classroom! Integrating some spice trade history, a bit of geography, and an herbalist approach to the properties and benefits of culinary flavors, this hands-on and interdisciplinary workshop will give you the experience and inspiration to boost your immune system, support your health, broaden your palate, and literally spice up your everyday cooking.
Participants will smell and taste their way to their own custom spice blend to take home.
