Tournament Time!
Give your child the gift of strategic thinking skills, problem solving, and resilience! Even if your child has just learned how the pieces move, you are welcome to join this FUN and positive, single-day competition! (Just be sure that your child understands what a checkmate is!) All participants compete in 5 matches, with awards for individuals in performance and sportsmanship as well as team-based school awards (so invite your friends). First time tournament player? No problem! Your child (and you!) will learn the basic competition rules and develop skills foundational to success in life. Your tournament host is the founder of Chess4Life, National Chess Master, and Level V certified chess coach with the United States Chess Federation. Open to all chess players Grades K-12.
Tournament play divided into grades. Note student's grade and school when registering. Choose + Lunch (pizza, snack, drink) if you'd like to pay for lunch in advance.
K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12
**Parents: Volunteers are needed to make this introductory tournament successful! Please indicate your ability to help out! There will be several chess related volunteer spots and also non chess related opportunities.
Lunch/Concessions will be offered by preorder online, the morning of the event, and for sale onsite while supplies last. You may also pack/bring your own lunch/snacks/drinks. Choose the +Lunch registration (pizza, snack, drink) if you'd like to pay lunch in advance.Arrive at 8:30am for seat placements and 8:45 morning announcements.
Gym time is mixed in for breaks and optional Pizza Lunch is offered ($6 including bev)!

Chess4Life
Elliott Neff is a National Master in Chess, author of A Pawn's Journey (October 2018), and Founder/CEO of Chess4Life, which exists to help kids develop life skills through the game of chess. What began for Elliott as a childhood fascination with chess has blossomed into an opportunity to positively impact hundreds of thousands of kids per week through Chess4Life programs.
