Learn how to transform fabric scraps and old clothing into beautiful and timeless rag rugs with only basic crochet skills needed. Etsy seller Anna Anderson guides you in fabric selection, time-saving techniques for preparing strips, and the best methods for joining the strips to create a durable and long lasting rug. Bring: size I or J crochet hook, sharp fabric scissors, fabric scraps, and old clothing. No denim. If you have them, a rotary cutter, cutting mat, and ruler are also useful. Anna's fabric stash is available to share with students. Students must know basic crochet (chain stitch and single crochet) but no pattern reading skills are necessary.

Anna (Maifeld) Anderson began crocheting rag rugs years ago as a way to use up fabric scraps and old clothing. She now sells her rugs on her Etsy shop "HeartlandHandmadeSD". You can see more of her rugs on her website annasews.net. She and her family live on a hobby farm near Sioux Falls and enjoy incorporating old time crafts with homeschooling, gardening, and animals.
