Get your toes tapping and your arms swinging and beat along to the rhythm in this entertaining take on music fitness! Sit or stand while using an exercise ball and drum sticks to tap and pound on a quiet, low resistance, bouncy drum. No experience or musical skills needed. Balls, sticks available to use at class. Join in a snack and water after your ‘workout’. GC Members Only.

Balls and equipment were given to SFSD through Public School Proud Grant through the SFSD Education Foundation!

Not a Gold Card Member? Gold Cards are available at no charge to community residents ages 60 and up. Enjoy discounted admission to most SFSD sporting and fine arts events, ComEd Catalogs mailed to you, and special invitaions to Gold Card Series Events.

Emergency/Severe Weather?Cancellations
In questionable weather conditions, listen for class cancellations on local radio and television stations. Participants will not be called individually. When school is canceled, IN PERSON Community Education classes are canceled. Canceled sessions will be rescheduled.

Dan Heier

Daniel Heier is a passionate drummer and teacher based out of Sioux Falls, SD. As an accomplished musician in jazz and commercial music, his talents have taken him on regional, national, and international tours. He is a member of the JAS Quintet who just released their second album, Bird Ritual Interrupted, and the Jazz Curators. Daniel has also shared the stage or studio with the Hegg Brothers, Jami Lynn, The Psalms Project, Geoff Gunderson, Phil Mattson, The South Dakota Symphony, The Diamonds, and many more. Daniel currently serves with the 147th Army Band in Mitchell, SD.

Daniel is an active private lesson teacher and clinician. His students consistently play in honor bands, jazz bands, garage bands, worship teams and drum lines. He has recently adjudicated or presented clinics at the Augustana University Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival, Morningside College Middle School Jazz Festival, South Dakota Middle School All State Band, Case School of Music Day of Percussion and many regional schools.

Daniel graduated Summa Cum Laude from McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, MN with a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. There he studied under percussion greats Marv Dahlgren, Gordy Knudtson, David Stanoch, Kevin Washington, Dave Hanzel, Paul Stueber, David Schmalenberger, and more.
