Egan was founded in the Dakota Territory in 1880, and Fuller tells the story of a fictitious 10-year-old girl. She writes for young readers, weaving in heirlooms, letters, and recipes of her great-grandparents who lived in Egan at that time.
Fuller's work was awarded the 2021 WILLA Literary Award for Children's Fiction and Nonfiction, and a silver finalist award for Children's Fiction from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association. Fuller used real life stories from The Egan Express which allowed her characters to experience actual historic events.
