The Siouxland Woodturner's (SWT) is a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW). The AAW is an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the woodturning craft. Our mission is to provide information, education, a meeting place, and an effective organization for all who are interested in turning wood. |
| Alstair Hird | My name is Al, and I am from England, and along with my wife and two daughters, came over here in August 2008 to raise young dairy stock for my brother-in-law’s 750 cow dairy in Egan SD. I have always had a passion for making things from wood, (my wife will confirm this, as the house is full of stuff!!) and was introduced to wood turning when a young boy at school, but did not actually take up the hobby seriously until just before we moved over here. I belonged to a Woodturning club in England, and I made sure that there was one over here before I even moved! Siouxland Woodturners are an enthusiastic bunch of people, who will help anyone to learn and improve their woodturning skills. We hope that you will come along and enjoy learning something new! |
