This course will provide mentorship support for first-year teachers aligned with the Sioux Falls School District mentoring program. First-year teachers will complete mentorship hours with a district-assigned mentor, including but not limited to, a collaborative kick-off session (New Hire Orientation), 34 hours of mentoring time (and submit a mentor log), and the State Summer Academy. Instructors will clarify dates, times, and locations of sessions as this information is dependent upon the teacher's grade level.

THIS COURSE IS RESTRICTED TO SFSD SCHOOL TEACHERS HIRED IN 2024-25 who qualified for the SFSD mentor program. Mentors may participate in the Year 1 course if they have a mentee but may not participate more than once every five years.

THIS COURSE MAY BE USED FOR THE SD DOE ALTERNATE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT. If you hold an Alternate CTE Certificate or Permit, you must participate in this class for college credit. This course is optional for all other Alternative Certificate pathways. Speak with your mentor, Human Resources and/or the instructors for clarification.

College credits (3) will be available for purchase ($135). College registration information will be sent to participants after class registration is closed. Only those individuals interested in purchasing the college credit should register for this class.
